Is there an upgrade for peachykeen to match xenforo 1.1.1?
Reverting templates for the skin is giving me problems.

Diana, I just emailed you ironically, didn't see this.

Hi Mike,
I'm ready to try the update. I didn't see a file with instructions for the update. Do I follow the same intructions as for the installation, or can I just import the style from the admin? Also, should I first try a "child of style" rather than overwrite the existing files just to try it out?
I'm a bit nervous about doing this (can't you tell?), don't want to create a problem I can't fix, so I'm trying to find the least complicating method.

Diana,

I would recommend making a back up (exporting the XML and copying your existing images) to a safe location. Then, I would install the theme fresh. Delete the current peachy images, then reupload. This will get you an "out-of-the-box" style. Then, you can compare the templates all in one place to add any customizations.

Normally, this wouldn't happen, but I decided to start from scratch since I found that the only skin was kind of buggy and I suppose I just prefer my own code. If you would like us to professionally install this for you, drop me a request and we can definitely get it done for you :)

Thanks,
Mike

Mike, wouldn't installing it fresh mean that I have to redo everything, including previous style changes and addons?
It took a heck of a lot of work to do all that. I'd hate to have to start from scratch, and I probably wouldn't remember how.
I'm working on a test site. Couldn't I just try to do an update first? What would that entail?
If all else fails and I have you do the fresh install, would you also be able to help reinstate all the rest?
Sorry, being a non-professional I'm a bit nervous about all this stuff.

Diana,
I understand, and this is not something you'll have to do again. I recoded Peachy from scratch. I made the decision due to the amount of errors in the code. The new design is much simpler in code yet it looks the same if not crisper and cleaner.

Installing a new demo board is definitely the best idea when updating. I would also be sure to backup your old Peachy .XML and images to a safe location before making the upgrade.

Depending on how your mods were installed, installing this skin should make them all work just fine, unless you made a lot of template changes (such as the countdown).

And take my word for it, it was worth it. I didn't want to do it as I knew it might cause the members a bit of extra work on their end, but we only have to do it once. All updates henceforth will be standard (normal, for lack of a better word :)).

Thanks,
Mike

Ok, I now have two skins, the old "Peachykeen" and the new "Peachy Keen."
That's good. As you said, this allows me to compare templates and make adjustments.
One thing I'm not clear about - where you said: "Delete the current peachy images, then reupload."
I'm assuming by "current" you mean those in the fresh installation. But which ones, where, and to which folder do I upload them? Also do you mean reupload the images I saved?

I have a better idea. Scratch what I said first, lets do this:

Open up FTP and go to the styles folder. Change the images of the old peachy to peachy_old. Keep the new images in the folder just called peachy. Now open up the OLD Peachy, go to General > Settings > Path to images and change this to: styles/peachy_old. That way, in case you needed to upload new images, you can still have a complete backup of the old skin.

If you already overwrote (because I spoke to soon), it isn't a big deal, we will just have to reupload any images from any plugins that were placed in the peachy directory, if any at all.

Does that make sense? Sorry I know it is kinda confusing.

Thank you Mike.
I'll review this over the weekend. It's too hard to concentrate weekday evenings after working all day. ;)

Hi Mike, I'm not sure I understand what I'm trying to achieve with the changes you suggested. I have two separate styles now, the old and the new with corresponding image files. So I already have a complete backup of the old style. Seems to me I just need to upload the old logo to the new style and make some other adjustments like the countdown and a few style changes. Once that's done I can delete the old style. I've downloaded a complete backup of the old style to my hd in case I ever need it.
What am I missing?

That should be all! I just wanted to make sure in case you had other template changes that you didn't lose them. But yes, other than the countdown, the logo, and maybe whatever else you might've changed, that is all that you'd have to update!
